Missionary Position

The missionary position is probably the most widely used of all positions. The man has nearly total control during intercourse. The woman can only move her legs to change the angle and depth of penetration. This position offers easy eye contact, kissing, deep penetration and a high level of clitoral stimulation. The man lies on top of the woman and he guides or she guides his erect penis into the vagina. In this position he can control his thrusting, slowing down or speeding up to control when he orgasms.

She can spread her legs or wrap them around his buttocks for some control over his thrusting.

Another and most pleasurable option for the woman who likes a great deal of clitoral stimulation, is for the man once he has penetrated to move his body forward a little. This brings his pubic area over on top of hers. Instead of the man thrusting in and out, the partners almost grind their pubic areas together. Couples can vary this position by having the man kneel or stand at the side of the bed and then push up into his partner.

Side by Side Sex Position

Side-by-side positions offer a high level of intimacy as they allow a great deal of body contact. The positions are gentle and romantic and can allow for prolonged intercourse. In the "spoons" position the partners lie on their sides with the man behind the woman. The woman pulls her knees up and lifts one slightly to allow easy penetration. In this position the man is free to caress his partner's breasts and genitals. The partners can lie facing each other with the woman's legs wrapped around her partners waist. This position leaves the couple free to caress and kiss and the couple can, by changing the position of their thighs, vary the angle and depth of penetration. If the woman lies on her back with her thighs over the thighs of her partner, he can enter her while at the same time caressing her breasts and genitals.

Stand and Carry Position

The man stands, holding his partner in his arms. She wraps he legs round his waist and her arms round his shoulders. She can move against him by pulling herself up and down, and he can help her with his arms. This position can be assumed from sitting. It can, of course, be adopted in a very confined space, but it is quite strenuous. From this position you can return to sitting, or the man can gently lower his partner on to a bed or preferably a table, where thrusting can continue without so much exertion.

Standing Sex Position

Both parties stand, using the wall as support. This position is often used when the desire to make love strikes unexpectedly. Part of the excitement lies in the fact that it is not easy to move in this position.
